A letter from our publisher
For 147 years, the Banner-News has been Magnolia and Columbia County’s most trusted source for stories that matter. When a community has a robust and independent local newspaper, it doesn’t just inform people – it binds them together.
Like many newspapers across the nation, the Banner-News has been impacted by the economic challenges of a rapidly changing media landscape. Despite operating at a loss, our family has remained committed to investing in the newspaper, looking for ways to secure its future. We do this because we understand the vital role that local journalism plays in a community; without it, crime increases, government accountability diminishes and citizens lose access to the critical information they need to make informed decisions.
That’s why we are launching the Banner-News Community Journalism Project — a dedicated effort to expand local reporting in Magnolia and Columbia County.
Donations help us provide essential news and insights and ensure no important story goes untold. Support also allows us to highlight local voices and celebrate the people and traditions that make this community unique.
Our family has invested in the Banner-News for generations because we believe a strong community depends on strong local journalism. But its future ultimately rests on the support of the community it serves. With your support, we can ensure that the Banner-News remains a trusted voice for many years to come.
